Hungary announced its approximately 100 million dollar space program. The aim of the program is to send a Hungarian astronaut into space again.
In May 1980, the first Hungarian astronaut, Bertalan Farkas, flew into space. Since then, no Hungarian astronaut has had the opportunity to do so. Now, however, the Hungarian astronaut program called HUNOR has started.
Carefully selected and professionally trained Hungarian astronauts will undertake a 30-day space research mission on the International Space Station (ISS) in late 2024 or early 2025.
