The wine region is one of the seven largest wine-producing regions in Hungary and has been a World Heritage Site since 2002. Tokaji aszú is the most famous wine speciality of the wine region. Tokaji wines are recognised worldwide, as confirmed by the export figures of the Hungarian wine sector and the results of prestigious wine competitions. The Tokaj-Hegyalja Wine Harvest Days are one of the oldest harvest events in Hungary, aimed at preserving the cultural tradition and showcasing the diverse values of the World Heritage site.
