Hungarian traditions become a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage

Hungarian string orchestra traditions

Hungary has submitted the heritage element of Hungarian string orchestra traditions to the UNESCO list.
The string music formation was formed over the course of centuries. The performances of peasant string bands added color to community and family events, dancing and singing.
Today, the Hungarian folk string orchestra is one of the most influential musical phenomena in the region.

Lipica horse breeding

Eight countries – Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia – jointly submitted the tradition of Lipica horse breeding to UNESCO.
Hungary played an outstanding role in maintaining the breed. The stud, which was endangered during the Napoleonic Wars, was taken to Hungarian area, from where Lipizzan horse breeding spread in the countries belonging to the former monarchy.
Hungary has outstanding international results in driving cogs with the Lipizzaner horse.
